Rishikesh is loacted in the foothills of Himalayas and on the banks of Ganges in the state of Uttarakhand. Sinces ages, the town has maintained its religious significance and attracts lot of devotees through out the year. The town has various places of sacred impotance, e.g. Muni Ki Reti (Sands of Sages), Sivananda Nagar, Ram Jhula, Laxman Jhula, Neelkanth Mahadev Temple, Triveni Ghat, Vashishtha Guha, etc. Rishikesh has also emerged an important centre of yoga in India and is often called as "The World Capital of Yoga". It has numerous yoga ashrams, e.g. Kailash Ashram Brahmavidyapitham, which attract lot of tourists. It is known as the holy town and regarded as one of the holiest places to Hindus.Besides the religious appeal, Rishikesh has also emerged as one of the favourite destinations for adventure sports. The Himalayan terrain of the town makes it an ideal location for bungee jumping, cliff jumping, para-gliding, etc. while the gushing waters of Ganges attract the water rafting and other water sports enthusiasts.
